DevForgeKit

Problem

Setting up and maintaining a complete development workstation is slow, error-prone, and inconsistent. Developers waste hours manually installing tools, configuring environments, fixing broken setups, and repeating the same steps across machines and operating systems — with no reliable way to validate or repair a workstation's health.

Solution

DevForgeKit provides one unified, cross-platform CLI that automates the entire workstation lifecycle: provisioning tools, validating environment health, repairing configuration issues at their root cause, generating projects, benchmarking performance, and backing up and restoring setups. Everything is reproducible, version-controlled, and self-validating, distributed through npm, Homebrew, and GitHub Releases.

Outcome

Reached a mature, stable v3.0.2 release with a 261-component registry across 35 categories, 50 installation profiles, and 1,354 automated tests, plus a certified path on macOS Apple Silicon, Ubuntu 22.04, and Debian 12 — turning hours of manual workstation setup into a single command.

Architecture

DevForgeKit is built as a modular platform of independent engines — Bootstrap, Validation, Repair, Benchmark, Environment Graph, Package Intelligence, Component Manager, Registry, Environment Configuration, Snapshot & Restore, Project Generator, Plugin, Release, and Reporting. A central component registry (261 components, 35 categories, 17 collections) drives installation profiles and recipes, while an automated release pipeline validates package integrity, checksums, SBOM generation, npm and Homebrew artifacts, and documentation and website consistency for every release.
